Description

To save a bit of $'s, I opted for Antlia NB 2" filters.  I've been using the Antlia dual NB 5nm filter with my OSC camera and have been pleased.  They warn that there may be halos around large stars and will not refund due to halos.  Compared to the price of the best filters on the market, I thought maybe I could live with that.  I also opted for the 4.5nm ($290 each) instead of the 3nm ($430 each) as both had the same halo warning.

Last night there was some clear skies between the clouds so time to give the Ha a test.  I figured y Cas, Navi, was the brightest star away from the full moon.  This image is actually a bit of a mosaic with only 1hr 20min on y Cas.  (I just had to get more of the ghost in my framing with the other hour).   There is no processing on y Cas; I did process the nebula with some curves.  There is no star reduction.  I see a slight backspace issue...sensor too close.  There is definitely a halo.  Mouseover starless version created with StarXterminator.  I think I can improve/reduce the halo with processing.  Not sure about what looks kind of like diffraction rays...it was a high dew night; dew started at 7pm.   Overall, I am very pleased.  I will test the Oiii when less moon...if it ever gets clear again, but Lord we need the rain in California!  Your thoughts and comments are welcomed.  -john

Oh, guiding was 0.5 or less the entire time even though PHD2 could only pick up one almost invisible faint star for guiding.
